The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is looking for an outgoing animal lover to join our team as a full-time Foster Coordinator.
In this role, the perfect candidate would be responsible for recruiting and training new fosters as well as maintaining current fosters. Some traits our ideal candidate would have include:
- Outgoing personality in which you are able to easily approach and speak to the public regarding our foster program
- Strong initiative to both grow the foster program and take ownership of the program
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage the program and provide monthly statistics
- Excellent customer service skills to fosters, volunteers and the general public
- Goal-oriented, self-motivated, driven and decisive personality
- Flexibility in work and ever-changing tasks
- Passion and dedication to animal welfare
- Compassion and a sense of responsibility to protect animals in need
Basic functions for this position include:
- Recruit new foster families to ensure a growing and thriving program
- Train all foster families and move them from inexperienced fosters to highly trained fosters
- Schedule foster families to ensure a fulfilling, positive experience and prevent foster burnout
- Implement a mentorship/leadership program within the foster families
- Keep foster care volunteers motivated and enthusiastic
- Track all foster care volunteers and provide statistics on programs
- Develop and implement new features to program
- Receive and respond to calls from fosters. This includes during scheduled work hours as well as afterhours
- Provide excellent customer service
- Match foster families with appropriate animals based on skills and situations
- Assure all fosters receive necessary training and support to perform their foster care responsibilities
- Schedule vaccines and medication pickup as needed with foster families
- Work with staff and various committees to provide competent foster care volunteers for departments, programs and events
- Work with Event Coordinators and staff to determine needs for offsite events
- Actively participate in offsite community events when needed
- Proactively seek out new foster care volunteers in the community
- Interact frequents with local businesses, organizations, groups and individuals to establish and develop foster care volunteer relationships
- Make sure all foster animals are vaccinated and ready for adoption in a timely manner
- Maintain organized and updated animal/foster parent records
- Act as a positive representative of the Humane Society of Greater Dayton
- May be called upon to perform other tasks as needed
