What we do

Meeting the animal’s needs

Programs & services

Veterinary Services

We want to make sure the animals in our community receive top-notch care to ensure they stay safe and healthy. This is why we spay/neuter all of our animals prior to adoption. This is also why we provide options to help stray and owned animals within our community.

Cruelty & Neglect Prevention

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is committed to making our community a place in which all animals are valued. This means keeping them safe from abuse, neglect and other harmful situations. We investigate all signs of cruelty, neglect, and abuse to all types of animals. This includes responding to calls regarding sick or injured animals.

Trap-Neuter-Return

With tens of thousands of cats currently roaming our streets as strays, we can’t find all of them forever homes, but we can help reduce illness, public nuisance complaints and overpopulation in a humane and effective way. We provide vaccines, medication and provide spay or neuter surgeries to these community cats through our Trap-Neuter-Return program.

Barn cats

Some cats don’t want to be in a home environment. These cats are perfect residents for homes with barns or other outdoor structures. They act as great natural pest control. All they need from you is a regular food source, water, vet care and an outdoor structure to call their own!

Giving up an animal

Parting with a beloved pet is tough. As a limited-intake facility we can only take in as many animals as we have space for. Contact us today to check about spacing or to schedule a time for your pet to come in.

Lost & found

Call us right away if you lose your pet! That way, we can be on the lookout for a missing animal. We make every attempt to reunite pets with their families. Also be sure to call the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center. They receive lost pets and are the primary location where lost dogs are taken.
