🐾 Today marks one whole year since Tony first a 🐾 Today marks one whole year since Tony first arrived at our shelter. He was just 8 months old when he first came through our doors. Now, at 1.8 years old, he’s spent most of his life waiting for someone to call him theirs. 💔 Tony has been adopted a few times, but major changes in his adopters’ lives ultimately brought him back to the shelter each time. Through it all, he’s remained the same sweet, goofy, affectionate Akita mix we all adore, just hoping for a home he can finally call forever. Smart as can be, Tony knows sit, down, and much more thanks to Dayton Dog Training Club. He loves learning new tricks, especially when treats or toys are involved, and he’s gotten along well with other dogs, making him a fun and social companion. With his striking good looks, goofy personality, and big heart, Tony is simply impossible not to love. ❤️ Tony is currently being fostered by a University of Dayton student who takes him on fun campus visits! He loves meeting new friends, exploring nearby pub patios, and has even become a familiar face at @ddsofdayton Food Truck, where he’s known as a total gentleman. 🐶🍔 Tony is tired of crashing on couches and hoping he can stay. After 511 days of waiting, we finally get to share After 511 days of waiting, we finally get to share the happiest news... Begonia has officially found her forever home. Her story began in the most unexpected way. Begonia was discovered as a stray after boldly hopping into a UPS truck, ready for whatever adventure came next. That leap of faith led her straight to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, where her journey to a new life truly began. From day one, Begonia showed us she wasn’t just spirited—she was brilliant. With the support of the Dayton Dog Training Club, she mastered an incredible list of skills, from sit, stay, and heel to cone wraps, ladder work, and even plank work. She thrives when she has a job to do and pours her whole heart into learning. In April, Begonia found peace in one of our foster homes while she waited for the right family. After a few adoption attempts didn’t pan out, her foster family realized what we all already knew—Begonia wasn’t just passing through. She was home. Today, we celebrate her officially becoming a permanent member of the family who loved her first and loved her best. Begonia’s story is a testament to resilience, to the dedication of our trainers and foster families, and to the belief that the right home is always worth the wait. Here’s to Begonia—proof that sometimes the greatest journeys begin with one bold leap.
