Position Summary:

Responsible for acquiring, growing and maintaining off-site locations for the Humane Society of Greater Dayton. This includes permanent off-sites throughout the Miami Valley.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides customer service in person, over the phone, and digitally to the public
  • Responsible for collecting, executing, and maintaining, all clerical paperwork for the adoption of animals, providing information for post adoption success
  • Complies with all Humane Society of Greater Dayton policies and protocols
  • Works with off-site management to ensure proper care of the animals, etc.
  • Coordinates the placement of foster animals into off-site locations.
  • Routinely visits permanent off-site locations; checks on animal/cage status, etc.
  • Performs high quality adoptions, adoption follow-up calls, license issuing, etc.
  • Provides excellent adoption counseling; matching clients to animals always maintaining a calm, courteous and helpful manner.
  • Responsible for handling money, invoicing, credit cards, etc. and making change for the public.
  • Keeps an inventory of adoption supplies.
  • Uses office equipment, such as a phone, faxes, calculators, microchip scanners, and computers. Retrieves and returns HSGD phone calls.
  • Maintains up-to-date animal files and familiarity with shelter cats, dogs and other animals.
  • Maintains up-to-date animal information/descriptions on cages, website, etc.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization in front office and other assigned areas of the building.
  • Retrieves and returns HSGD phone calls.
  • May be called upon to perform other HSGD tasks including but not limited to the following: picking up injured cats, cleaning cat or dog areas, cleaning areas of the building, data entry, mailing items, ordering items, taking animal pictures, describing animals, etc.
  • Trains, encourages, motivates and provides positive guidance to volunteers for the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
  • Represents the Humane Society as a professional

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs other job-related duties and activities as needed.
  • Keeps management informed, as necessary.
  • Works extended hours as needed.
  • Travel, as needed

Minimum Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of animal adoption procedures and general animal health and behavior
  • Succinct communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to organize thoughts in a logical, clear and concise manner
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Experience and ability to use office equipment

Job Type: Full-time

 

Salary: $12.50 – $15.00 per hour
