💥 Meet Durand: Awkward, Energetic, and Full of 💥 Meet Durand: Awkward, Energetic, and Full of Heart 💥 Durand is 11 months old, smack in that awkward “not quite a puppy, not quite adult” stage. Paws too big, brain still loading, and energy levels that make espresso look lazy. He’s loud, goofy, a little messy, and convinced every object can be a toy if you try hard enough. 🐾 But behind all the silly antics is a heart that’s been through a lot. Durand didn’t get the puppyhood he deserved. He was brought to us by our humane society agent, skin and bones, covered in cuts and bruises, and battling anemia from a severe flea infestation. His brother Jones came with him, but after all the trauma they endured, they just couldn’t handle being around each other anymore. 💔 Durand’s still figuring out other dogs. He doesn’t quite get their body language yet and doesn’t realize his excited barks might be a little… intense. He’s looking for someone who sees this awkward, high-energy, slightly dramatic pup and thinks, “Yep, I can handle this.” Lots of patience, enrichment, and chew toys required. Endless laughter and cuddles guaranteed. Elio was an instant hit with the residents, happily soaking up pets, smiles, and snuggles! 💛 We’re so grateful for community partners like Hidden Springs who help us share the love and comfort that animals bring. Studies have shown that spending time with pets can reduce stress, ease feelings of loneliness, boost mood, and even lower blood pressure. We’re proud to help make those positive connections happen right here in the Dayton area. Through our Pet Therapy Program, we’re able to bring joy to members of our senior community while also helping shelter dogs gain socialization and confidence outside the shelter environment. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.
