Sometimes being brave is hard, even for a big dog. Sometimes being brave is hard, even for a big dog. Zazu likes to have his emotional support bowl nearby just in case. It helps him feel calm, a little less lonely, and maybe a little more confident in a world that can be overwhelming. Sometimes support doesn’t come in the form of a stuffie or a blanket. After having such a great experience last time, a new group came to volunteer, and jumped right in to help us clean cages and care for the animals. It may not be the most glamorous job, but it is one of the most important. Clean, comfortable spaces make a world of difference for the pets in our care. We are so grateful for your time, hard work, and willingness to serve. Zinger’s day out wasn’t sunshine and blue skies. It was better. It was puddles. It was fetch until your legs are tired. It was sniffing every inch of the park like you’ve never seen grass before. It was treats, a cheeseburger, and confidently strutting through Rural King like he had a shopping list. And for a dog who came from a recent hoarding case, where he lived in filthy conditions with many cats, that kind of freedom means everything. Despite his past, Zinger is gentle, affectionate, and yes, he does well with cats. He could have been shut down. He could have been fearful. Instead, he is playful. Trusting. Ready. A HUGE thank you to @Folded Ear Dog Park for a private visit to their Toy Box and the Orchard dog park. Giving him that space to run and just be a dog made his whole world a little bigger. 💕 Love is in the air at the Humane Society of Grea 💕 Love is in the air at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton! 💕 Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, but our hearts are already overflowing. THREE of our long-term residents are heading home! 💘 Our longest resident rabbit, sweet senior Ebony, has found her forever family and is ready to enjoy her golden years in a peaceful home. Ebony has a few health considerations, and we are so grateful to her adopter for opening their heart to give her the love and comfort she deserves. Senior pets have so much love to give, and Ebony is proof of that. 🐇💛 But that’s not all! Our FIV+ bonded pair, Oakland and Padre, are also going home together! These six-month-old best friends came to us as bottle babies and have grown up side by side at the shelter. Playful, curious, and full of energy, they love wrestling, chasing toys, and keeping each other entertained. Being FIV positive doesn’t slow them down one bit, they’ll continue their adventures in a home of their own. 🐱🐱 Three beautiful lives. Two incredible adoptions. There’s nothing like a gentle paw and a wagging tail to brighten someone’s day! 🐾❤️ Kimberly may be a little older, but she’s full of love, playfulness, and energy for her walks. One of the smartest pups around, she already knows her basic commands and is always eager to show off her impeccable manners. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and is patiently waiting for a forever home where she can share all her love.
