We told you to buckle up for Eugene's story before We told you to buckle up for Eugene's story before... well, buckle up again and bring tissues for the happy tears because we have an update we NEVER saw coming. 🥹❤️

We thought Eugene was a 14-year-old stray who had somehow survived everything life threw at him. He came to us in February in heartbreaking condition and spent seven long months fighting to get healthy.

We thought he was on his own and our job was to find him a family for his golden years. What we didn't know was that he already had one.

Long before we knew him as Eugene, he had another name, another life and someone who loved him. His real name is Booger, and he's been missing since 2020. 😭

For SIX YEARS, Booger was somewhere out there while his owner continued searching and never gave up hope of finding him. Then one of your shares put Eugene's photos in front of her.

We didn't want to get anyone's hopes up, but the details kept lining up. His age. The little notch in his ear. Already neutered. Even one eye that tends to stay a little "goopy." She shared old photos, and the similarities were hard to ignore.

There was only one way to know. She had to see him. She took Booger in as a tiny bottle baby, hand-fed him and watched him grow up. She knew her cat. And when she saw him after six unbelievably long years, she knew. It was him. ❤️😭

When Eugene came through our doors barely hanging on, we had no idea where he'd been. We just knew he was fighting, so we were going to fight right alongside him.

All this time, he had a name, a history and someone who loved him, missed him and never stopped looking. Today, after six years apart and seven months of care to get him healthy, Booger is FINALLY going home. 🥹❤️

The cat we thought needed a family already had one waiting for him.
Thank you to everyone who shared Eugene's story. You helped Booger find his way back home, and this time, he's going home microchipped, so he'll always have identification connecting him to his family. ❤️🏡

Today, we want to give a heartfelt thank you to ou Today, we want to give a heartfelt thank you to our friends at Humane World for Animals.

Early this morning, they met up with our team to help transport 19 dogs from a recent hoarding situation where we removed 48 dogs from one home. One by one, these pups were carefully and securely loaded into their van, beginning their journey toward a brighter future in Washington, D.C.

Thanks to @humaneworldforanimals and the incredible shelter partners working alongside us, these dogs now have a second chance at the lives they deserve. A chance to heal. A chance to feel safe. A chance to know what it means to be loved.

We could not do this work alone. It takes a community of animal welfare organizations coming together to make sure every animal has an opportunity for a better tomorrow.

To Humane World for Animals: thank you for showing up for these dogs when they needed us most. Your partnership is helping change lives.

And if you're local and wondering how you can help, please consider becoming a foster. Fostering may be temporary, but the impact you make on an animal's life is forever.

A few days ago, we put out an urgent call for pupp A few days ago, we put out an urgent call for puppy pads following our intake of nearly 50 dogs, and our community showed up in a BIG way. Donations are starting to arrive, and we are so incredibly grateful!

We know there are still plenty of packages on the way, but we couldn't wait to give a huge shoutout to everyone who has donated, shared our posts, or helped spread the word.

We asked for puppy pads, and you went above and beyond! 🥹 Not only are more puppy pads headed our way, but dog food, treats, enrichment items, cleaning supplies, and other much-needed essentials are en route as we speak.

And these supplies go even further than what you see at the shelter. Your donations help us care for the animals staying with us AND provide supplies to the foster families who have opened their homes to animals who need a quiet place to decompress and heal. 💛

With so many animals relying on us every day, supplies get used quickly, which makes an outpouring of support like this incredibly helpful.

If you haven't donated yet and would still like to help, we are always grateful for supplies! 🐾 Our Amazon and Chewy affiliate wishlist links are in the comments below.

Seriously, THANK YOU. We asked for help, and our community delivered. 💛

Humane Society agents recently completed a massive Humane Society agents recently completed a massive dog rescue in Moraine, Ohio, saving 48 dogs from severe neglect.

On September 4th, 2026, authorities discovered 48 dogs living in deplorable conditions inside a private home. The scene included unsanitary living spaces, with many animals confined to filthy, stacked crates surrounded by trash. This urgent animal rescue highlights the ongoing challenges faced by local shelters when dealing with large-scale neglect cases.

While the puppies rescued from the home are now safe, the organization is issuing an urgent call for help. They are currently seeking temporary homes for the surviving adult dogs. If you have space in your home, you can foster dogs to give them the care and healing they need before they find permanent families. This temporary commitment provides the necessary resources for these animals to recover.

Please consider becoming a foster parent today to help these animals heal. Subscribe for more updates on local animal welfare and rescue missions.

❤️🐶 Our recent dog hoarding case brought nearly 50 ❤️🐶 Our recent dog hoarding case brought nearly 50 dogs into our care all at once, and while we’ve made some great progress, we still need your help!

Some of these pups are settling into foster homes, while others are still here at the shelter receiving plenty of TLC, including much-needed baths, nail trims and additional medical care. 🛁🐾

For dogs coming from an overwhelming situation like this, a foster home can make a HUGE difference. Right now, what many of them need most is simply a quiet place to relax and decompress.

And fostering might be easier than you think!

🏠 We provide the food, supplies and medical care.
📅 You can choose how long you’re able to foster.
🐕 Our foster coordinator can help match you with a pet that fits your family and lifestyle.
🐾 Already have pets? We can teach you how to safely set up and separate your foster while everyone adjusts.
🙋 Never fostered before? That’s okay! We’ll walk you through the process and be there to help along the way.

You don’t have to be an expert. You just need a little extra space and a willingness to give a scared pup somewhere safe to land. 🥹❤️

We’ve found placement for some, but there are still dogs waiting for their turn.
