Jonathan Taylor Thomas does a brave little hobble right in and steals your heart. 😽 JTT came to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton after what we believe was a car accident, suffering multiple fractures to his right rear leg and pelvis. To give him a pain free future, his right rear leg was amputated. After six weeks of crate rest in a loving foster home, his pelvis had time to heal and stabilize. It didn’t heal perfectly, which gives him that slightly awkward little hobble… but he gets around just fine. And he truly does not let it slow him down. He uses his litterbox like a champ, navigates his space confidently, and has adjusted to life on three legs with so much quiet resilience. Because of how his pelvis healed, he may be more prone to arthritis as he gets older, so keeping him at a healthy, slim weight will be important. JTT does not see himself as fragile. He is strong, adaptable, and so deserving of a family who will see his three legs not as a limitation, but as proof of everything he has overcome. Douglas is nothing short of a miracle pup! 🐾 When Douglas is nothing short of a miracle pup! 🐾 When he was found as a stray, he was a literal walking skeleton, so malnourished and out in the cold winter. It was heartbreaking to see such a sweet soul struggling just to survive. As soon as he arrived at our shelter, we made sure he got all the care, love, and nutrition he desperately needed. Douglas was placed in a foster home where he could safely gain weight, build strength, and rediscover the joy of being a dog. Now, this 3-year-old mix is a completely different pup, healthy, happy, and full of life. He is crate trained, potty trained, and loves wearing cozy sweaters while zooming around the yard with pure joy. Their bond is special and they deserve to continue sharing it in a home where they can both feel safe, loved, and cherished. We are beyond grateful to their new family for opening their hearts and home to two dogs at once. It takes a special kind of love to embrace not just one new furry friend but two, especially seniors who already have a lifetime of memories together. Meet Bret ❤️ Our longest resident, waiting since A Meet Bret ❤️ Our longest resident, waiting since August 2025 for his forever family. Bret has never met a stranger. He greets everyone with full body wiggles and pure joy. Even though he’s a big guy, he’s completely convinced he’s a lap dog. Start petting him and he’ll instantly flop over, stare up at you with those sweet puppy eyes, and politely demand belly rubs. He’s basically a snuggle expert. He’s also been crushing it in his weekly training classes. Bret loves to learn, thrives on mental stimulation, and is eager to please. And when it’s playtime? He celebrates by dumping out the entire toy box and having the best time ever! We once believed Bret was reactive toward all other animals, but recently, Bret has had several positive introductions with dogs his size, and they went really well! It has been incredibly encouraging to see this side of him. We would still recommend a meet and greet with any potential dog siblings to ensure everyone feels comfortable and confident before going home together. At this time, a home without cats or small animals would be the best fit for him. Bret is loyal, goofy, and so ready to give his heart to someone. He has waited long enough.
