Feral mink. 😂 Rome has the confidence of an animal three times his size and the firm belief that absolutely EVERYTHING is a game. Redirect him? Game. Tell him no? Hilarious. Try to stop whatever questionable activity he has planned? Congratulations, you just made the game even more exciting! He wakes up every morning and chooses chaos. Rome isn’t mean. Quite the opposite. He is having the TIME OF HIS LIFE. He just plays like a wild creature with no respect for law, order, or your attempts to reason with him. 😂 He investigates everything mouth-first, plays HARD and seems genuinely delighted when his antics get a reaction. Basically, imagine taking the chaos, silliness and questionable decision-making of 10 ferrets and cramming it all into one ridiculously adorable little guy.... That’s Rome. And after a long day of disrespecting his surroundings, Rome will curl up and sleep like the sweetest, most innocent little angel you’ve ever seen. As if he didn’t spend the previous several hours committing crimes. Rome needs an experienced ferret person who understands ferret behavior well, and will appreciate him for exactly what he is: a hilarious, chaotic little creature with a HUGE personality. 🐾 Think Rome is your kind of ridiculous? This is how we found Ariel and 47 other dogs. 💔 T This is how we found Ariel and 47 other dogs. 💔 The first photo is difficult to look at, but this is the reality of rescue. Sometimes animals need help immediately, and when 48 dogs needed us at once, our priority was getting every single one of them out of that environment and somewhere safe. Foster families quickly opened their homes. Volunteers put in extra hours caring for dogs who needed patience and reassurance. Supporters sent supplies. Partner organizations welcomed dogs into their own programs. Staff worked day after day to help so many scared dogs begin adjusting to a completely different life. Rescue is hard work. It can be exhausting, messy and heartbreaking. Sometimes the animals who come through our doors are so shut down that you don't even know who they really are yet. And then, little by little, you get to meet them. ❤️ The second photo is Ariel today. She's happy. She's safe. Her personality is shining through. And she's officially ready to find a family of her own. This is the part that makes all of that hard work worth it. Getting to watch an animal go from completely shut down to becoming the dog they were always meant to be. And Ariel isn't the only one. Some of the 48 dogs have already found homes, others are still decompressing and recovering in foster care, and more are ready for adoption. 💗 Meet Thumper! Thumper is one of the 48 dogs who 💗 Meet Thumper! Thumper is one of the 48 dogs who recently came into our care from a hoarding case, and this sweet girl is already showing us just how much personality was waiting to come out. 🥹 Thumper is learning all about the good stuff in foster: playing with dog friends, hanging out with kids, snuggling on the couch and just getting to be a happy pup. She LOVES playing with her foster family’s resident dog and has also been wonderful with their kids, ages 12 and 14. She’s still figuring out some of the basics she didn’t get the chance to learn before. Potty training is a work in progress, leashes are still a little weird, and she’s learning that a crate can be a safe place to relax. But she’s already making progress! ❤️ Thumper has been through a lot of change in a short amount of time, but she’s proving to be playful, cuddly, resilient and ridiculously cute.
