#BettyWhiteChallenge Honors Legend and Animal Advocate

By: The Humane Society of Greater Dayton

On December 31st our nation mourned together as we heard of the passing of Betty White. Known for her kindness, quick wit and love for animals, she had a special spot in so many hearts all across the world.

Just shy of her 100th birthday, in her honor, a social media campaign started to support one of her many passions – animals. To honor her lifelong commitment to animal welfare, everyone is encouraged to donate to an animal shelter in her honor to celebrate what would have been her 100th birthday on January 17th.

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton, a no-kill animal welfare agency that is celebrating 120 years of helping animals this year, has set up a donation page to make it easy for people to celebrate Betty White’s legacy of supporting animals in need. By simply visiting www.hsdayton.org/Betty people can donate to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton now.

The support of our community through this campaign directly helps the animals that are sitting right now at our shelter waiting for their forever homes. It provides them with nourishing food, comfortable beds, toys, top-quality medical care and so much more. Plus, every dollar you donate to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton stays right in our community to help animals.

“Betty White was a legend and demonstrated through her kindness and big heart what it meant to be an advocate for animals,” said Brian Weltge, President & CEO of the Humane Society of Greater Dayton. “We hope that through this campaign, our community will come together and ‘paw-it-forward’ to celebrate this amazing woman and to honor the legacy of love and care she gave to so many animals through the years.”
