What is The Golden Ears?
The Golden Ears is a partnership between the Humane Society of Greater Dayton and the Senior Resource Connection's Meals on Wheels program. Through this program, we ensure local seniors receiving Meals on Wheels can get the resources they need to keep their pets happy and healthy!

5 Paw Service
Many seniors love and depend on a dog or cat for companionship, but often have difficulty covering costs to keep their pet happy and healthy. Through The Golden Ears partnership, we are able to provide dry pet food to local seniors currently receiving Meals on Wheels.
Your pet’s food will be delivered along with your scheduled meals through the Meals on Wheels/Senior’s Best Friend program.
Participants must be part of the Meals on Wheels program. For more information on how to get involved, contact the Senior Resource Connection at (937) 228-3663 or visit their web site at www.SeniorResourceConnection.com.

Seniors for Seniors Dog Adoption Program
Embrace the joy and companionship that come with the Seniors for Seniors Dog Adoption Program, where senior adults like you have the opportunity to give a homeless senior dog a loving second chance. By opening your heart and home to a senior dog, you’ll not only provide them with the care and affection they deserve, but you’ll also experience the priceless companionship and unconditional love they bring into your life. These loyal friends are often calmer and perfectly suited to match your pace, making them ideal companions who can enhance your daily routine with their gentle presence and devotion.
How it Works:
The Humane Society of Greater Dayton will play matchmaker for you! Simply call us at (937) 262-5920. We will work with you to find a dog that meets your needs including size and temperament. Once we find one, we will schedule a time for you to meet the dog. If it is a match, for just $20 you can adopt the dog. Thanks to a grant, the rest of the adoption fee will be waived! Plus, with your adoption, you will also receive a voucher good for one free annual wellness exam courtesy of Dayton Humane Veterinary Hospital.
All dogs at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, flea-treated, heartworm tested and examined by a veterinarian prior to being available for adoption.
