❤️ Meet Pudding ❤️ Pudding is an older lady who's ❤️ Meet Pudding ❤️

Pudding is an older lady who's on the shy side. She likes her hidey holes, prefers to eat her dinner in private, and she’s probably not going to climb into your lap five minutes after meeting you.

But that’s Pudding, and we think there’s someone out there who will love her exactly as she is.

Give her time to feel safe, and you’ll start seeing the little things. She’ll relax. She’ll make biscuits. She’ll get comfortable enough to let her guard down and show you the sweet girl hiding underneath all those nerves. 🥹

Pudding has lived with other cats and enjoys having feline friends, although she’ll need slow introductions. What she really needs is a calm home with someone who understands that trust doesn’t always happen overnight.

She may never be the cuddliest cat in the world, and that’s okay. Pudding isn’t looking for someone to change her. She’s looking for someone who will give her a quiet place to call home and enough time to realize she’s finally safe.

We know her person is out there. 💛

Sometimes the best foster support has four paws. 🥹 Sometimes the best foster support has four paws. 🥹🐾

Ping Pong is a nervous girl, and the kennel environment was becoming overwhelming for her. She needed somewhere quiet to decompress and learn that things aren't quite so scary.

Savannah had already been enjoying foster life, but foster homes aren't always able to make long-term commitments. When it was time for her to return, we had an idea: what if Savannah joined Ping Pong instead?

Savannah is confident, calm, gentle, and great with other animals. We hoped her presence might help Ping Pong feel a little braver while also keeping Savannah comfortable in a home. And it worked. 💕😭

Savannah has become the perfect social support for her nervous foster friend, and Savannah is potty trained, gets along with cats and other small animals, and is happiest lounging on the couch or sleeping near her people. She does have some separation anxiety, prefers to free roam rather than be crated, and should be supervised outside since she can jump a fence when she thinks she's been left alone.

Meanwhile, Ping Pong is getting the chance to decompress with a confident friend by her side. 🥹

These girls are not bonded, and do not need to be adopted together. They're each looking for a forever home of their own. We just love seeing how foster care, and a little friendship, can help shelter dogs thrive. ❤️ Apply to adopt at hsdayton.org/adopt/dogs

Happy National Nonprofit Day! 💙🐾 For more than 12 Happy National Nonprofit Day! 💙🐾

For more than 120 years, the Humane Society of Greater Dayton has been here for the animals and people of the Miami Valley. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, everything we do is made possible by people who believe every animal deserves care, compassion, and a chance at a better life.

There are so many ways to make a difference:

🐾 Donate: Every dollar helps provide food, medical care, safe shelter, enrichment, and so much more for animals who need us.

🐾 Volunteer: Whether you're walking dogs, spending time with cats, helping with cleaning, or lending a hand at an event, your time helps make our mission possible.

🐾 Foster: Open your home to an animal who needs a break from the shelter. Even a few days or weeks in a loving foster home can make a huge difference.

🐾 Adopt: Give an animal the fresh start they’ve been waiting for. When you adopt, you’re giving them a safe place to belong and making room for us to help another animal in need.

🐾 Share: Sometimes, helping is as simple as sharing a post or leaving a like and comment. Every interaction helps more people see our animals and learn about the many ways they can get involved.

Whether you donate, volunteer, foster, adopt, or simply help spread the word, you are part of every second chance we create. Thank you for helping us continue this work and giving animals in our community the care, love, and hope they deserve.

💙 What if your home could be the place that helps 💙 What if your home could be the place that helps a shelter pet heal, decompress, and get ready for their next chapter?

Fostering is one of the most important ways you can help animals in our care. Every time an animal goes into foster, it opens up space in our shelter to help another animal who needs us. 🐾

And fostering doesn’t have to be a big commitment. It could be just a few days or a few weeks, depending on what works best for you. You choose the type of foster and the commitment that fits your home and lifestyle.

Here are some of the foster families we need right now:

🏥 Medical fosters
Provide a quiet, stress-free place for animals recovering from injuries or receiving medical care. This may include cage rest, enrichment, and medications. We can train you if needed!

🏡 Adult animal fosters
Give shelter animals a break from kennel life. This is especially helpful for nervous or overwhelmed animals who need a quieter place to decompress, show their true personalities, and thrive while waiting for a forever home.

🍼 Bottle baby fosters
Provide round-the-clock care for our tiniest, most vulnerable animals, helping them grow big and strong before finding their forever homes.

🚨 Emergency fosters
Help us respond quickly during natural disasters, large-scale cases, or other unexpected situations when animals need immediate temporary placement. These opportunities may come with short notice, but they are incredibly important when crisis strikes.

No matter which type of foster you choose, you won’t be doing it alone. ❤️ We provide the food, supplies, veterinary care, medications, and support your foster pet needs. You provide the safe place and a little bit of your time.

A few days can make a difference. A few weeks can change a life. And every foster helps us make room to save another animal. Visit hsdayton.org/foster to learn more and apply!

🦎💚 It’s World Lizard Day, and Mochi has a question 🦎💚 It’s World Lizard Day, and Mochi has a question… why hasn’t anyone taken home her bombastic side eye yet? 😂

Mochi may be a little grumpy right now, but we think there’s a sweet girl hiding behind all that attitude. Shelter life has her feeling stressed, so she isn’t a fan of being handled just yet. But with patience, time, and someone willing to earn her trust, who knows? Maybe you can turn those side eyes into the sweetest lizard snuggles! 🥹

Mochi is a healthy, active bearded dragon who loves to jump, climb, explore, and bask under her heat lamp. She’s looking for someone who understands that the best relationships take time to build.

Celebrate World Lizard Day by giving a shelter lizard a chance! Learn more about Mochi at hsdayton.org/adopt/small-animals, or stop in today during our open hours to meet her.
