🐾❤️ Today is National Adopt a Shelter Animal Day! 🐾❤️ Today is National Adopt a Shelter Animal Day! 🐾❤️

Looking for a couch buddy? A hiking partner? A tiny chaos goblin? A majestic loaf of a rabbit? A guinea pig with opinions? A rooster who believes every sunrise is his personal spotlight? We’ve got options!

Right now, we have cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, gerbils, and even roosters all hoping today might be the day they find their forever home.

Some are young and just stepping out of foster care, ready to start their next chapter. Some have been waiting longer than they should, watching other animals come and go while they’re still hoping someone chooses them.

Every single one has a personality, a story, and so much love to give.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, this is your sign. Your new best friend might be waiting for you right now. Browse adoptable animals and apply at hsdayton.org/adopt 🐶🐱🐰🐹🐓

If you’ve been waiting for a chance to meet some of our foster animals without scheduling an appointment, here’s who will be visiting this week:

✨ Elle the Jack Russell mix on Thursday

Meet Marion
Marion is our longest resident rabbit, and we would love nothing more than to see her finally find the home she deserves. She’s looking for a home that can meet her specific needs, including a large space to exercise and roam, along with a top-notch diet to help her feel her very best. She’s a special girl, and we know the right person is out there for her.

Meet Elle
Elle is sweet, playful, and full of personality. She’s also potty trained and does well with cats, dogs, and kids, making her an easy girl to love.

Meet Theodore. In the kennels, you’ll hear him bef Meet Theodore. In the kennels, you’ll hear him before you truly know him. He barks until his voice is gone, hides under blankets trying to escape the noise, and struggles with the stress around him. Shelter life has been hard on this sweet senior boy.

But outside of the kennel doors, Theodore becomes someone completely different.

He’s a loving old soul with plenty of life left to live. He still enjoys walks and adventures, loves being close to people, and would happily spend his day cuddled up beside you.

He knows sit and down on the first ask, comes when called, and is incredibly eager to please. He snores with the sweetest old-man soundtrack, makes adorable little piggy snort noises when he gets excited, and has the kind of personality that makes you smile without even trying.

When Theodore stayed in foster, they said he was amazing. Well behaved in the home, trustworthy when left out, never getting into anything… just content to relax nearby. He loves deeply and wants nothing more than to be close to his people.

Theodore doesn’t show his best self in the shelter, and that may be costing him the chance he deserves. The stress of kennel life is loud, overwhelming, and unfair to a dog like him. His real personality is waiting just outside those kennel doors.

If you’re ready to open your home, Theodore would love to meet you. hsdayton.org/adopt/dogs

If adoption isn’t possible right now, fostering could change his world. hsdayton.org/foster

If fostering isn’t the right fit, take him on a Doggy Day Out and give him a much-needed break from the shelter. hsdayton.org/doggy-day-out

And if none of those are possible, sharing his story could help the right person find him.
Theodore is waiting to be seen.
